47 minute film. Directed by Katherine Knight.
This film is a detailed study of Winnipeg artist Wanda Koop’s creative process and her ability to translate three dimensions into a flat picture plane through superb painting handling, expert drawing skills and attuned observation. Shot during a weeklong freighter boat trip on the Saint Lawrence, this film captures Koop’s reliance on landscape, weather and travel as reoccurring thematics. Voyage sketches, photographs and moments of observation soon lead to a new group of astonishing paintings.
